Pretty Yende is a South African soprano whose international opera career includes appearances at La Scala and the Metropolitan Opera. She received the Order of Ikhamanga in Silver in 2013. [1][2]

Biography

Yende was born in Piet Retief, Mpumalanga, on 6 March 1985. The 2013 National Orders booklet records her South African opera training, while her professional biography describes later study at the Young Artists Academy of Teatro alla Scala in Milan. [2][1]

She made her La Scala debut in 2010 and later built a career across major European and American opera houses. Her professional biography records appearances at the Royal Opera House, Opéra national de Paris, the Metropolitan Opera and other leading companies. [1]

In 2013 Yende received the Order of Ikhamanga in Silver. The official citation recognised her achievement and international acclaim in opera and her role as an example to aspiring young musicians. [2]
